What we should look at is a license to speak or write.
If you want to be protected by the 5th amendment, you should have to have a background check & a license.
    Renewable each year.

    The state NEEDS $$$$$$$

Just think of how much we could raise off the other amendments.

Don't give them any ideas. Some brainiac in Lansing will get the Power Points fired up and the next thing you know we'll have to change the drivers license again to fit all the special designators.

Agreed, if it has to be a fee it should be a one and done (lifetime). I believe our neighbors to the south in IN have that option - as a reference point.

The requirement for 'real ID' will net a bunch of extra bucks. Some will have to renew old license, get more documents and then go back for real ID license and pay a second time.

if you havent run across 'real ID' yet I bet the sos site has some data on it.

You don't have to do Real ID…after some research, I decided a Passport CARD was a better option for me…after my wife got her Real ID, I explained the shortcomings vs a Passport CARD and she is now getting a Passport CARD, as well (she will have both)…

They still don’t enumerate what exactly MSP says they spend their $8.9M share of the fees on, just generalities.
