    Walther PPQ 22 -- not the p22/p22q --- or a Ruger SR22.

Best pair of 22 rimfire autos if he doesn't want a Buckmark - my favorite 22.

You can jazz them up if you don't like the stock look.

PS, I did not like the look either initially, that blocky receiver.
S&W sent me this as warranty replacement for an old 22-A that broke. Changed my mind pretty quick.
One screw disassembly, one more to swap barrels. It is a great shooter.

I'll cast my vote for the Colt 1911 A1 22lr. My wife has one and I've put at least 500 rounds of crap 22 through it without cleaning it and had zero malfunctions. They can be purchased for a reasonable price even though it's a "Colt 1911." It's made by Walther. I plan on buying myself the gold cup version someday. It's a great plinker.

Taurus TX-22. I've been running a bunch of different ammo through mine, and the only thing it doesn't like is the polymer coated CCI stuff, which most .22s in general have issues feeding. Barrel is already threaded, ergonomics are great, and a nice trigger too. First Taurus made in the US too I believe.

Unfortunately you just missed a $50 rebate on them, which put them down at $200.

    And the 16 + 1 round capacity TX22 sells for $50 to $100 less than the SR22.

    Edited to add:
The TX22 also comes with a threaded barrel and silencer adapter.
is there any zince stuff on it?

I historically am biased anti taurus minus the pt92 which i do like.

Looking for something no zinc, I am anti zinc/zymek, so is he, he has had cheap 22 lr that were zinc like a long barrel phoenix arms he got for a song, and its still the worst thing he said he ever bought, despite buying it for something like 45-50 bucks on a whim.
    The TX22's slide is aluminum.

    Walther P22 hasn't failed me.
I saw it on Cocktailer's desk when buying a suppressor. It followed me home. Just a fun gun to shoot. Super comfortable in my big mitt. My wife liked it so much that she tried claiming it.

My understanding is they are aircraft aluminum slide and framed, but also there is a version offering a polymer frame.

Nice little guns about 3/4 the size of a centerfire 1911.
