A cracked tang is a fairly simple repair....

    Short version:
    -Drill small hole across crack.
    -Inject glue/epoxy into crack
-Apply pressure to crack/repair (rubber surgical tubing, clamps, etc)
-Run a brass screw through the crack/drilled hole... leave the screw head just short of the wood.
    -24 hrs later remove clamp.
-Cut screw flush to stock on both sides of stock/repair, polish with a cratex bit until flush.

The result is a small, shiny, brass dot on both sides and is quite strong structurally.

A similar technique... without the added support screw
