I recently got a Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II 223/556. I want to get a simple sight for it for range shooting. Suggestions? I was thinking a red dot with a 2x magnification or something. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't go wrong with Holosun or the Sig Sauer sights. I have a mix of high end and value optics, depending on the application.
Here's some of the most popular ones: https://www.motorcitymunitions.com/c..._stock=&page=1

I’m using a Vortex Sparc AR on mine. No complaints.
Thanks guys! I did hear great things about the Sig Romeo.
Not sure what goes for simple but the only thing that goes on my ARs is a Trijicon ACOG. Very simple...no buttons....no batteries....and no money left in my wallet. I have multiple and won't trade them for anything.

If you can't afford an optic but you want one, find a bushnell TRS25 on sale
If you need to save a little money, get a PSA daily deal for magazines and a vortex sparc AR.
If you have a few bucks to spare, Sig Romeo 5 on sale is HARD to beat for the price. Holosun is a couple bucks more and is probably a good option too.
If you aren't hurting for cash, patience can get you an Aimpoint PRO on sale for the price of their ACO
>field of optics in the $450-$800 range with diminishing returns<
CompM4, CompM5 fit here
If you have too much cash, ACOGs are very nice.
the things i listed don't have magnification - except for the acog

I've been very happy with my Vortex 3X Spitfires.
All of the M&P Sport II's I've seen have a fixed front sight.
If yours does as well, you will want to mount a magnified optic (3X minimum is my choice) or else you'll be looking through the front sight instead of beyond it.

" I want to get a simple sight for it for range shooting."
well, that's a start..for determining what scopes to consider.
several ?'s arise...how are your eyes ?
how precise do you want to shoot ? @ what Distance ?
any low - moderate priced scope is good for groups out to 50 yds or so, with my 65+ y/o eyes anyway.
If shooting 100 yds or greater, & trying to put you shots in a 1" square (on target) need a higher powered, clearer lens (= more expensive) scope..
If you've got young, sharp eyes..maybe it'll be easier for you.
added:I find red dots are not very good for accurate shot placement , on targets 100 yds. away
Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x.
On the found a deal forum section of MGO, there is a link for it for $299 including the mount..
Highly recommend!
