this looked like a cool idea..
I noticed the article reports that the Air Force Gunsmith Shop built these rifles.. built 2700 of them @ a cost of 2.7 million dollars.
that figures out to "only" $1K per rifle.. but article doesn't specify if these are made from new parts, or converted rifles they already had in stock..

If I was a AF pilot, I'd be glad to have this AR , (whatever the cost) rather than the .38 Special or 9mm pistol they had..or the .22 RF rifle they used in the past.

I always wondered if someone would design one. Pretty slick.

My dad flew H model hueys in VN, when he got there they issued him a S&w mdl10 and 12 rds....he said that lasted one mission then he bought a grease gun and 20 mags on the black market...never had to use it for its intended purpose but he said it made him feel much better every one of the four times he got shot down

Springfield Armory is releasing the Saint Edge Evac this year that's a take down style AR with a folding stock.

Do you have an ejection seat in your vehicle that it would fit in?

Probably not. At least not in the same configuration.
It is typical for whatever they use in the survival pack of the fighters to be an NFA item (break action SBS/SBR over/under). This will probably be "selective fire", and after the Hughes Amendment that closed the registry, none will ever hit the open market.

I have a rear folding 60/40 jump seat in PU truck that it would be a perfect fit.
