    How much torque when bedding

I'm wanting to bed my Savage rifle action to my stock. I can't find a definite answer as to how much torque is applied to the action screws when bedding action to stock with pillars. Any help would be appreciated.

When bedding, you don't want to torque anything, just be sure to have dummy action screws you can take out, or hand start yours. I've used black electrical tape to hold the action in the stock, or just very lightly finger tighten your action screws. The purpose is not to induce any stress into the action while bedding.

I was taught 'finger tight at best'.
