    Guns and ammo during Covid

Being that the state is under a stay at home order save a few exceptions, some of us (me included) have firearms to buy tomorrow and may already have the permit to buy them, question is what to do. Read the exceptions under Whitmer's bill before you respond please. Thank you

I do not see gun sellers as being along those businesses that are essential and open under the directive.

Go pick them up as you have a right to do.

Guns are essential. Go buy and sell them as you please. What's the worst that could happen.

    You decide the risks.
    EMERGENCY POWERS OF GOVERNOR (EXCERPT)
    Act 302 of 1945

    10.33 Violation; misdemeanor.
    Sec. 3.

The violation of any such orders, rules and regulations made in conformity with this act shall be punishable as a misdemeanor, where such order, rule or regulation states that the violation thereof shall constitute a misdemeanor.
Is someone out there waiting to catch you or arrest you? IDK

    You asked.

One could argue that Illinois set a precedent by defining gun stores as essential and until some one explicitly says otherwise proceed under that assumption.

Really? I suppose if you feel the acquisition of a new firearm outweighs the health and safety of yourself/family and others, by all means, you go purchase that gun. Why not return the permit and acquire a new one once this is all over? And yes, it is that easy.

Pretty much unenforceable unless the police are going to stop everyone they see on the roads. Good luck with that. Even then, how would they know you are not going to the store to get food? Then there is the whole misdemeanor arrest thing. Are they going to take you into custody and put you in jail? Kinda defeats the purpose of no social contact.

Perhaps someone from law enforcement can chime in and tell us what their instructions are for enforcing the gov's order.
No man made law physically prevents one from doing anything they have a mind to.

I think the brand new gun would be a dead give away. Not to mention, going to the gun store kinda defeats the purpose of no social contact.
