    Painting a barrel

    I have a stainless barrel.

I kind of want to paint it black. I kind a want to do it with a rattle cans. Is this a bad idea?

Try it, see how it works. If it doesnt go how you want drop it in a bucket of paint thinner.

    What is wrong with stainless?

    It’s reflective?

I've used Duracoat on a barrel in the past, including a muzzle device. So far it's worked out. If you have metal on metal movement the coating wears quick, but otherwise it seems OK.

How about just brushing it to a dull (non-reflective) finish?

I've used a wire wheel on some parts before that turned out fine to me.

If you succeed, tell me about it, OP. I want to do similar stuff with my stainless barrel. But I want to paint it in red.
