    Threaded extension for pistol barrel

I have a Springfield 9mm XDM 5.25” that I want to use with my suppressor. I originally planned on buying a new barrel, but everyone is out of stock and the prices are close to $350. Is it possible to add a threaded extension to the barrel? We don’t have many gunsmiths on the west side of the state so info woke appreciated.

I think a lack of replies suggests it to be not too good of an idea.

Tornado technologies typically welds extensions on to the barrel. The welded extension has no rifling, and is essentially a spacer. I've heard OK things about this process.

Thanks! I’ll contact them and see what they say.
