    Fixing a bench bag

Got a bench bag for sighting in my rifle, well, today we were getting ready to go to the range so the wife could shoot her new rifle.

Problem is, she grabbed the bag by one of the loop to keep the shoulder strap in place and the bag tore on one of the seams.

Is there a way to fix this?
Can I just wrap it in duct tape or maybe the wife can use some heavy duty thread and sew it up?

    Any suggestions welcome...

I would use braided fishing line and just hand sew it up.
