    Thoughts on re-selling ammo supplies..

Reading the thread about whether there is now an ammo "shortage" has had me pondering this question
How should someone price ammo they have for sale ?
I, as many others, have a stockpile of assorted factory ammo I've collected thru the years, thinking I'd
shoot it & (as a long-time hand loader) use the brass for my hand loads.

I've also saved brass, & if I see a bunch another shooter left on the ground @ my range,
pick it up & add it to my brass supply. Why not ? free-once fired brass..can't beat that.
Over the years my supply expanded..to the point I doubt I'll ever shoot the factory ammo I have collected thru the years.
My question is..& it may stimulate some debate.

How should anyone determine a price for ammo they want to sell ?

I will add, that I sold some ammo here in the past, from a deceased friend's estate as a favor to the family.
What sold was that which was priced well below current market prices.

guess NOW is the time to list my "surplus" factory ammo ..
don't want to cheat anyone, be a "price gouger" but sell for a fair price.
any suggestions how to do that ?

If it was me, I'd sell it for somewhere between what I paid for it, and the current price. You might make a couple bucks, and the buyer gets a discount. Win-Win.

One way is to use an Auction House

Removes the hassle of pricing and delivery, if you are a busy person with a Family.
    Otherwise
Going the Distance to meet up with a buyer can be rewarding in itself.

^^^ this.. I am sure the margin would be large given today's prices, so you decide on where to sway the new price..

Quick online search will tell you what fair market value is for it. Price it a bit less than online, no shipping, no hazmat if you're selling consumables.
Everything will sell at the right price.

An online search right now won't help you price your ammo... because the hot calibers are out of stock on virtually every www site.

And if they show a price you can bet it will not be the "new" price when they finally get restocked.

I always try to do right and sell on MGO to help my fellow gun owners, I price it 2 ways, either what I paid which I do have some I bought during previous shortages that's still cheaper than today or if I got it at a good price I'll add a buck or two which could be way cheaper or at least better than current prices and everyone is happy.

Free market vs socialism. I go with market price.

If my $9 (paid) box of ammo now sells for $12 (when you can even get it), some will gladly pay $12 and some will be too pissed to pay $12. Back in the Obama years I had ammo to sell and posted it here with a photo that had the original price sticker. The store shelves were bare. Someone PM'd me here, angry that I was selling it for more than I paid. I just rolled my eyes and waited for the inevitable buyer. Someone else bought it for my asking price and was thankful.

The operative term should be "fair market value." Someone will get offended if they can't buy at yesterday's prices. That one will have trouble ever being successful in a free market. The one that got pissed needs to grow up and may well vote for the free stuff - "fair share" (socialism) party.
    All the best,
