I had one of the earlier (185 series) years ago and it shot pretty good for what it was intended for but after 4-5 rounds the rounds were all over the place due to the barrel being to thin. My AR wouldn't always strip a new round, last round wouldn't keep the bolt open, misfires, etc. Bought the updated Mini-14 with the upgraded barrel and this is now a whole different ballgame. My AR was made by Stag arms. I have now over 2,500 rounds thru it and not one issue.

Something I've learned , loading a fair amount of .223 & 5.56 recently is that I have to be careful with OAL of my loads.
A little too long & they hang up in the magazine..won't chamber properly.
Some long-er rds seem to chamber, but when trigger is pulled, get a click instead of a bang..reseat bullets a little sorter, rds work fine.

Despite measuring & trimming brass after each loading, & measuring OAL of loads, there's some variance in the tip of the bullets that make some rds. a bit longer than others.
I found it strange, comparing OAL of some factory rds. to oal listed in manuals..
Factory loads a quite a bit shorter. Manual given OAL is a max. length.
With bullets that have a cannelure , this line would be inside the case neck, if loaded to factory length measurements.

I've done a fair bit of experimenting with my loads..tried & have been using WC-846 as my powder.
It's a military surplus power, was quite inexpensive in the past..not so much anymore.
No load data for this powder, supposed to be similar to BLC-2.. had to experiment to find what my rifle seems to like best.

Most recently, I've had to start another experiment..loading frangible bullets. Did lots of reading on the web and then began experimenting.
Frangible bullets have a longer bearing surface, so a 50 gr bullet needs to use 65gr load data (due to the friction / resistance from the longer bearing surface)
All this experimenting means I get to shoot a lot.. win-win.
Very gratifying to get a load combination that works well.
Though I only shoot @ 50 yds..recently shot a 3 shot group in a (small) bullseye that measured .350" from center to center of the most distant bullet holes.

Anyone looked at the CMMG Mk47 rifles? They are called the Resolute series, but basically a custom AR-style rifle that uses AK mags, has an AK-style mag release, and an enlarged BCG for 7.62x39. So it's a gas pinger, but seems pretty cool.

Unfortunately though but obviously, since it's a cottage industry/unique gun - the Resolute 100 series starts at $1,500 and the 300 series (with gucci Gisselle trigger, CMMG custom stock, cerakote, etc) goes for $2,000

^ CMMG MK47 looks interesting...but the price, ouch. Unlike the Galil ACE, it will accept drum mags.
