    Unhappy Ar9 barrel replacement - what’d I get wrong?

My PSA Ar9 doesn’t get any primer strikes (ammo is fine on other guns). I verified bcg/firing pin are working correctly. FCG is ALG ACT fwiw.

Must be a headspace issue? The barrel is a Foxtrot Mike replacement. Any tips of what went wrong? Clearly I am not a gunsmith this barrel was put on long ago but is unfired I’m guessing. My son is getting frustrated it doesn’t work.

^^^^^ this was my thought too.

What I really want to know is how you got the PSA barrel off? I wanted to do a change and couldn’t get the barrel nut to budge. I was sure I’d twist or break the upper. I called ADCO and they said they’d get it off fir $40 (it’s an hour drive from my house). I bought a new Spikes upper for $50 & sold the old upper.

That only provides info about the combination of this ammo and other guns.

It provides no info about the ammo itself, nor this gun.

I have been looking around and I can find almost no info on Foxtrot Mike replacement barrels.

If you're in my area, you can try the BCG out of my functional AR9 in yours to rule out the firing pin / BCG.

Thanks everyone. The barrel shows slight contact wear from the bolt. Also I discovered the Firing Pin Spring is shorter than photos online. See picture in uploads above and it’s obviously shorter than photos online.

I’ll order a new spring for starters.

The ammo is 100% 9mm (my own reloads). It’s not the ammo.

    J-squared,
I may contact if my first steps don’t resolve.

Lol. Yeah, the PSA barrel had no grease on threads. They cut corners. I’m happy with MOST PSA stuff but this left something to be desired (obtained it used). The PSA barrel was waaaaay too tight and likely short.

I used this and a ton of force (not heat IIRC)

That vice block and torque bores are totally worth $25 IMO!
