I live in S.E. Michigan (near Ann Arbor) and i am looking for a place to shoot my sons new .22 lr and pistol but don't want to be limited to a formal range. Is there a place we can go legally to shoot?

Look up the State game and wildlife areas near you. A lot of them allow target shooting if you follow their rules.

Hay there. There is Washtenaw Sportsmen Club in Ypsilanti just off of I-94 and Michigan Ave, and there is a Gun shop at Jackson Ave and Backer Rd in Ann Arbor that looks nice. Give them a try.
