I would like to know where, who or, how I can get in touch or talk with someone who has knowledge about FFLs....I applied for a FFL in flint township and the zoning board said I could do gunsmithing activities...HOWEVAH I cannot have no "retail sales" ok fine ( disappointing yes but..) The ATF says since the 01 FFL designation is a dealer -gunsmith I cannot be granted a license because I cannot sell! REALLY!!!!! Is this correct? I know a FFL and my question is...can I have firearms sent to him and can the FFL then disassemble the gun and outsource the stocks to me?

Just get an 07.
You can still sell with an 07 if you want.

The ATF has made compliance with local laws/ordinances the main item you need to show in order for them to issue.

I'm thinking what Coctailer said might work, I would go that way and see if you can make that work within the local regs.

The retail sales component is part of both an 01 and an 07. No, not required, but if you have an 07, you can. Unless the township folks are really dumb, they won't allow the 07 either. But ... you never know. Worth a try.
