Help Needed/Guidance; AR-10 platform - Hand Guard to Lower (Barrel nut) gap

I just purchased a new (to me) PTAC-10 (AR platform in .308 ) with a free float hand guard.

I noticed a gap between the hand guard and the Barrel Nut/Lower, and wondered if this was normal.

The gap is 37/64".

• Is this normal?

• How can I fix it or close the gap?

(I tried to post pics, but apparently I'm not allowed to do that.)

Find the correct shims for it.

To be honest, I posted this without really looking into the issue.
After going to the range, I noticed that foreguard GAP to the lower was bigger now.
I immediately thought, the thing is loose!
I loosened the 2 set screws, pushed the foreguard back to mate with the castle nut, and done.
Torqueds it down.
All good.
