    45-70 rifle usage in Zone3???

I have been told that a 45-70 rifle is now legal for deer hunting in Zone 3, provided one uses the wildcat 1.8 inch case. Is that correct? Thank you.

The limited firearm zone rules state that the cartridge must be .35 cal or larger and a case length min of 1.16" and max of 1.80". This cartridge must be a straight walled case. As long as you stay in those boundaries you are GTG.

I think that is correct. Where can you get a "wildcat 1.8 inch case"?

You have to make them by trimming down 45-70 cases or find a reloader to do them for you.

Some small reloading co could do well making the 45/70 short. I like the 454 Casull & these specs are for a 7" handgun

Just buy something in 450 Bushmaster, problem solved.
No man made law physically prevents one from doing anything they have a mind to.

It really is that simple. The cartridge is rediculous. Makes hunting easy.

Fury Bullets offers loaded 45-70x1.8" https://www.furycustombullets.com/sh...ition-20-pack/ I tried a similar thing back in 2014 with my 444 Marlin and 310gr lead bullets and it shot very poorly at 50yds . I did load up some 444x1.8" with 265FN innerlocks but have not shot them yet. Ran across them again this fall and still didn't take them to the range.

As long as you meet the DNR cartridge requirements that mohl mentioned you can use whatever.
