In the firearms market, how is a business like this failing? The Sandy hook lawsuit and this was an easy out maybe? Not that they made the best quality stuff out there any more, but there's a very loyal following. Perhaps just complacent management? Lack of innovation?

Winchester now Remington, how long until S&W and Savage take the same route?

"how is a business like this failing? "

truth is..the business wasn't failing. There were bought out years ago by a grouip called Freedom Group., which was owned by Cerberus Capital Management.
Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. is an American private equity firm,[2] specializing in distressed investing.

Ever heard about how some companies get bought , then broken apart, & all assets sold off, as the parts of a company may be more valuable than the company as a whole ?
there are a number of unflattering terms used to describe this process.. The real estate, buildings, equipment, remaining inventory,etc.. are sold & the company is gone.

Some "raiders" buy a company, give THEIR execs high salaries, bonuses, take out loans for the business, running up debt .
They then transfer funds- equipment-whatever to another one of their companies, all this making a negative cash flow for the company being ruined.
More than 1 firearm company has been abused in this manner.

Remington Outdoor Company (ROC) was an American firearms manufacturer and holding company. The company had notable brands under its umbrella, such as Bushmaster, DPMS, Remington and Marlin

    Is Remington still making shavers?
Never, under any circumstances, consume a sleeping pill and laxative on the same night.

Nope, that was sold off back in the '70s I think it was.

It is now part of Spectrum Brands and Oak Hill Capital.

Discontinued products could simply mean they changed a sku/product #.

They probably are able to use all their primer production in loaded ammunition.
