    CMMG upper question

I am looking at building an ar9 using a standard AR15 lower with endomags. For the upper I wanted to go with a CMMG banshee 100 but they sell both a glock style upper (mkgs) and a colt style upper (mk9). For anyone with endomag experience, it doesn't matter if I pick the mkgs vs mk9, right?

If it's the CMMG with the radial delayed blowback (MKGS), the ejector is part of the bolt/BCG, and not a separate piece like on straight blowback AR9's.
Many ar15 to 9mm magazine conversion kits, like endomags, include a built-in ejector as part of the mag, which if not removable, may physically impede the BCG. So if you want to use the endomag with the MKGS you should research if that combination actually works.

I believe the MK9 is a straight blowback 9mm and the MKGS is the radial delayed blowback version. Thus, if you are set on endomags, you may need the MK9.
I built an AR9 with the radial delayed blowback system, and I would choose that over the straight blowback any day.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, I definitely want to go with the radial blowback. Do you have any pointers that the MK9 is a straight blowback? I didn't see anything on the CMMG website or a quick search online:

Better order now. The wait for an upper from CMMG is 4-5 month MINIMUM.

CMMG also sells a 9mm mag conversion kit to allow using a standard lower with the Radial Delay system. You cannot use another manufacturers 9mm lower with the RD system so you either need to use their lower which takes Glock mags or the special mag conversion kit.

This MK9 Bolt is definitely normal blowback and not radial delay - that's why I think the MK9 is is not the radial delayed version

That may be accurate, or there may be a few exceptions.
I can say I successfully bought the 8" barrel and bolt from CMMG and use it on the AAO lower&upper for Sig P320 magazines. The only trick on the upper is that you have to mill a little clearance for the cam pin that's on the bolt.

Thanks I am aware of the wait times and the price from cmmg. The rdb seems like the way to go, but right now Im just planning out the build.

Even if I had it put together right now I would have to find 9mm that was affordable. IIRC Fenix Ammo sold out last week in minutes at ~$.70 per round after tax.

I did a AR9 build once and I thought the Endomag was junk. All plastic, after about 100 rounds the ejector was almost destroyed. it Was a BCA bolt and barrel for glock mags. I have built many AR's but this was my first AR9 and will be the last.

Scoop, I saw that you carry CMMG products. Is CMMG fulfilling order for resellers more quickly than to individuals? Just trying to see if I should bit the bullet and order from CMMG or hold out for an upper or barrel\bcg to come in stock at another retailer.
