Looks like it would turn and lock like a muzzle brake or compensator on a 1911 but it's much larger diameter.
Only writing on it is "DUNN" and "Pompeno"

Not familiar with the brand, 1911 Government model, compensator and spring plug. Takes the place of your barrel bushing.
