    Savage Bolt Head Changeover

    I have a Savage 12FV in 6
    5 Creedmore. I am thinking of rebarreling to 224 Valkyrie. Is this doable? What bolt head do I buy? The head size of the Valkyrie is between a 223 and 308. Not concerned about magazine as I shoot single shot anyway . Thanks for any ideas

    You need the bolt head for 6.8SPC which the 224 Valkyrie is based off of.

    Thanks, I found one at Pacific Tool and Gauge. Apparently needs some machine work to make it fit right

    That’s more of a CYA disclaimer since headspace may be slightly different. Most of the time it is a pure drop in. Just use a headspace go/no-go gauge to confirm proper headspace, which you should do with any new bolt or barrel anyway.
