I consider this a wall-hanger, but I'm not a GS. It looks plum wore out to me. I can't imagine how many thousands of rounds have gone through it.
This is a mid 1920s (by serial code) Rem Model 10 12ga that has probably spent its life behind the door of a farmhouse or cabin. The butt-plate is smashed from sitting on a floor. I removed it to protect what is left of it. (Not much). The stock split, but can be repaired by sanding the warped edge flat. I made a half-hearted attempt at that.
It must have been presented to a Jack C. Roehl of the Detroit chapter of the American Legion as the medallion indicates, although I could find no mention of that name, except for a John Roehl in the 1920s.
I'll never shoot it, and don't have a wall to hang it on. I'd like to sell it, but I'd like a fair price for it. It might be worth more as a parts gun if someone wants to strip it.
