    Desert Eagle

    Can you shoot .38 spl. In a .357 Desert Eagle ?

    It won't have the recoil to run it in semi auto, but will fire if you rack it every time. Same with the. 44spl in a magnum ..... I've tried...

    Change out the recoil spring to a lower weight.

    Also, don’t shoot lead. The gas port is immediately in front of the chamber, and will fill with lead. The newer Desert Eagles have a hex plug to get to and drill out the gas tube to the piston if it gets clogged, but the older ones do not. If it fills with lead, the barrel is toast.

    I go as far as to not even shoot bullets with exposed lead on the base. I was finding lead residue from melted/ vaporized lead accumulating on the piston with hot loads. I moved to full copper cupped bullets and the problem stopped.
