    Scope for Ruger American rimfire

Maybe this isn't a gunsmith question, but I've never installed a scope before. I want to put a scope on my RAR .22. Looking at vortex 2-7x32, some decent deals on this scope right now. I'm reading on many sites that the RAR rimfire factory bases are too far forward on the receiver and you can't get a natural picture without leaning in. These folks say to install a picatinny rail by EGM, and you can mount closer. Can anyone confirm or deny that from experience?

I can’t help you from experience, but I’d try it with the Ruger mount 1st and if you find it doesn’t work you can always add the rail later.
