    Any advise for hearing protection?

    Hello,

I'm new to handguns, and I purchased Walker's Razor Slim Passive Earmuffs at the beginning, and it was not helpful at all. Then I got the Walker's Razor Slim Low Profile Electronic Earmuffs. It worked great the 1st day and all shoots were cutoff, then so bad in the 2nd trial (I can hear shots, diminished, but still can hear them loud). I did some research, and people were advised to buy a new gell padding replacement, especially for those who wear prescription eyeglasses. I did purchase the PROHEAR GEP03 Upgraded Gel Ear Pads for Walker's Razor Earmuffs, and after 2 trials at the range, I can tell there was a little difference, but not enough to hurt my ears...

I did order the 3M Peltor Sport Tactical 500 Hearing Protection as reviews were putting it ahead of Walker, but I really don't want to keep trying and keep hurting my ears

Appreciate any advice on the best quality hearing protection out there...

Thank you. I ordered the Sordin Supreme PRO X to give it a try...

I always put the NoiseFighters https://noisefighters.com/ gel ear pads on my hearing protection. Very comfortable for all day wearing.

You can always double up . . . . foam plugs, rubber plugs or molded plugs.
I use Dave Clarks attenuators + foam plugs . . . . . works for me, although there are still complaints from the wife ?
Something about selective what ever ?

Dave Clarks are known for aviation headsets. I didn't know that they have a line for the guns. For my aviation, I use Bose A20 Aviation Headset. They are great, but I doubt it will help me as active protection. Gunshots and jet engines have the same dB levels (above 160 I believe) but not the same pattern. Jets/pistons are continuous noise, but guns are sudden (explosive), and I'm not sure if active aviation protection is designed for fast reaction. It might be interesting to try my A20 on a gun range

I would argue that it’s best to go browse places like bass pro and see what you like best. Everyone has different taste and preferences

Hi James, I meant with the best is what is really working best. I tried walker headsets before, and it just makes my ear uncomfortable, and have headaches after 1 hour of shooting. I got the Sordin premier pro x as advised above, and it worked like a charm for 2 sessions since I got it. I believe in the saying "Expensive is cheap"

Buy a silencer + ear plugs (foam, custom, etc) + ear muffs.

    Guns are loud huh?
