Under 21 bringing pistol into the state.

I own a pistol in the state I currently reside, but I am not yet 21. Can I legally bring my pistol into the state when I visit? Also, if I were to move into the state, how would I go about registering it? I have read online that you list yourself as the buyer and seller on some form, but I've also read that doing so is purgury. Would I even be able to do that as I'm not 21?

    Yes.

You don't "register." They are sales transaction records and no sale took place.

I'd call the local Law Enforcement department where you are moving to and ask them.

In the past I've built AR pistols from undesignated lower receivers and used the RI-060 Pistol Sales forms to "transfer/sell" the pistol to myself. A friend has done the same all without incident.

If you are just visiting the pistol you legally own in your state is good here but you may need to be 18 or older. If you are moving here you have a time period (30 days or something) to register the gun in Michigan. All are done on the RI-060. To the best of my knowledge there are no other forms used to facilitate the transfer of a pistol.

But then I'm not LE or an attorney so everything I offer is just a wild guess.

Never do this, They will tell you what they want not necessarily what the law is. Just a couple years ago a lady with a CPL got arrested and charged with a felony for carrying a pistol in the back seat in a case ( totally legal ) Cop wrote her up and prosecutor went forward to court even after one of the MGO affiliated attorney's talked to the prosecutor. it was thrown out but still it should have never went as far and it was started by a cop with no knowledge of gun laws in Michigan.

Everything you just advised is incorrect. There is no legal way to complete a RI60 as both the buyer and seller, regardless of what LE tells you.

With moving into the state, the OP should get his CPL once he's 21 to fulfill the LTP requirement.

Just keep the empty gun in a locked case, where you can't reach it, and separate from the ammo while traveling.

Never ask a cop about the law.
Never, under any circumstances, consume a sleeping pill and laxative on the same night.

I've seen both there is no registration, but this is what's confusing me

MCL 28.422 provides that a person shall not purchase, carry, possess, or transport a pistol in Michigan without first having obtained a License to Purchase and registering the pistol.

So there is no registration, but it must be registered?

I'm not sure where that quote came from, but here is the actual law:

You would need to get a CPL to meet the license to purchase and since you're under 21 your only option may be to obtain a license to purchase and not turn it in, however this is an area I'd recommend discussing with a lawyer.
