What typically drives the MGO BoD to take a position is when we become aware that a bill is being considered in committee and we have a day or two to make a motion, allow for discussion time, then take a vote.

In both instances of a committee hearing of this bill, there was less than 24 hours advance notice, thus, not allowing enough time to complete the process before the committee hearing.

Now that the bill is moving along, we may or may not make a motion to support or oppose.

The language of this bill is a bit convoluted. What the bill does is completely remove the following:

    a dagger, dirk,
stiletto, a double-edged nonfolding stabbing instrument of any
length, or any other dangerous weapon, except a hunting knife
adapted and carried as such, concealed on or about his or her
person, or whether concealed or otherwise in any vehicle operated
or occupied by the person, except in his or her dwelling house,
place of business or on other land possessed by the person.
So, that removal clearly allows for legalizing carry (including concealed) of all of the enumerated "weapons".

Next, it appears that they are trying to allow for concealed carry of a pistol WITHOUT a CPL in a vehicle. If that is indeed the intent, the wording can be cleaned-up in order to prevent anyone from interpreting the language to say that you need a CPL for concealed carry in a vehicle, on your property, business, etc.

Finally, they changed the word "land" to "property". Based on that wording, it could be argued that your shoes are your property, so as long as you are "on or in" your shoes, you do not need a CPL to carry concealed, no matter where you are.

    Very sloppy.
