    S&W 442 & A Magnetic Holder

Any advice on using magnetic firearm holders in a vehicle. See any problems with magnetized frames, shells or etc?

Speaking specifically of modern ammunition and your S&W 442 I wouldn’t be the least bit concerned. I’ve sold/used these over the years and even if you do somewhat add some magnetization to the ferritic bits on your revolver I’d expect no negative consequences for that.

The S&W 442 has an aluminum alloy frame which won't stick to a magnetic. It's cylinder and barrel is blackened stainless steel. Some stainless will be attracted to a magnet, some isn't or at least no very well. So a magnetic mount might not hold it very well.

The 442 is perfectly safe for today's .38 SPL +P loads. The magnet should have no effect on your ammo.

My 642 hanging from a magnetic holder in the Pic. Sure, it holds. It also wobbles, let's the pistol move enough to damage finish. Makes shiny spots on the matte finish cylinder.
Not that 642 frame finish is that tough, it's weak and easily damaged.
I tried them on my old Gen2 G19, worked better on the flat surfaces but still wobbled some on bumps in the road.
They are great for static storage, under a desk for example.

Ya, not a really good idea if one were to get into a accident, not holstered and the trigger is snagged somehow.
