    1st 9mm pistol...which one?

    Hello all,

I'm really tempted to get a 9mm pistol. It will be my 1st one (I have a Buckmark Camper 22lr that I like a lot....but would like a bigger caliber)
I want to keep the budget around $300. I "handled" a Stoeger STR9, a Taurus G3 and a Ruger Security 9 at BPS
I really liked the feel of the Stoeger in my hand, hated the grip of the Taurus, and the Ruger was fine but more expensive
Is the Stoeger a decent "starter" pistol?

    Thanks

IIRC, the Ruger Security 9 comes with two or three magazines (depending upon model), and the Stoeger STR9 comes with one. What's the price difference between the two after you pony up the cash for 1 or 2 more magazines?

At BPS, price difference is $70.....
Checking on their website, the Ruger comes with 2 mags, and the Stoeger with only 1

I would suggest to save a bit more. The competition really opens up at the $5-600 range.

Palmetto State Armory has the Dagger Compact which is a Glock 19 Gen 3 Clone at the $300 mark.

I understand the "you get what you pay for"..............but I don't want to put that amount of money in a 1st pistol (otherwise I would go with the Beretta M92FS)

I have large hands....not sure a compact will feel comfortable

Sounds like you made up your mind and really want a beretta.

As long as you don't plan on relying on it for self-defense, you'll be fine.
