No one uses Hoppes No. 9 anymore?
No one uses Hoppes No. 9 anymore?
I finished a large btl. of Hoppe's #9 ( 1/2gal. ? ) not long ago.
I'd used it for many years..it came in a glass btl. ! I'd purchased a quart (?)sized replacement, only to discover they had changed the formula of #9..
it still worked, but is difficult for me to tell if it works as well as the old stuff.
I'd read about using Ed's Red for a cleaner, used google to find a recipe, bought the ingredients, & mixed a batch.
It's very economical, in comparison to buying other cleaners, & I discovered..it works ! Quite well, I will add.
As I'm blessed with owning a number of AR's, & feel responsible for exercising all of them, on a sort of rotational basis,
don't believe I've put a lot of rnds. down any of them.
All are cleaned the day their used, unless I have a reason to return to the range the next day...
i.e. trying a new load that has an issue, or trying a fix for an issue that arose when used last.
Haven't ever tried cleaning a muzzle brake, or even thought I had a need to do it..
