The rockwell hardness for the Armoloy XADC is crazy-stupid-hard - almost double the Rc for hardened tool steel. Never heard of anyone using it on gun parts though.
The standard Armoloy (TDC) is negligibly harder than IHC.
The required prep ends up giving you an orange peel finish substrate with a very flat almost white final finish - so even a sheen akin to satin hard chrome would be shinier. Not sure how shiny you want to go. If corrosion is all you care about, I would pick armoloy personally.

Armoloy is just another trade name for hard chrome plating, just not as thick. Claims to be able to be applied without affecting tolerances. Been around since Tricky Dick was the Prez.

Is there anything keeping you from sending the gun off to an expert instead of trying to find some place that might could maybe do a decent job locally? Totally not a slam against Customized Creationz - he's pretty much the only one around that's consistently reputable. A lot of the other pretty good places around here will send it off for plating anyways - so you're already paying for that.

30 years ago Armoloy was a very common coating on custom guns, firearms used in extreme conditions were often done.

He's back in business, he moved out of Romeo and is Almont now. He did some work for me a couple months ago.

I emailed Customized Creationz when I posted this thread and never heard back. I emailed him again yesterday. I don't want to send the gun off considering shipping cost on a handgun. Customized Creationz doesn't list hard chrome on their site.
