    hiking/woods gun

probally a loaded question but whats everyones opinion about a hiking gun or just a general gun to have if your out in the woods? ive been spending allot more time in the u.p. hiking and camping and have been thinking about a gun just for that role. i usually have my carry gun on me but something with a little more power might be nice just incase i ran into some bigger critters. am i overthinking things or is this a just cause for a new gun lol. any caliber choices would be welcome. my usual edc is a 9mm or 380.

    thanks

The 9 will be enuff in most cases, but if you want something bigger, dont go so big that you cant shoot it and not hit the mark.

    .357 Sig isn't a bad choice. 4 inch .357 also good.

If you can't afford a new Gun, try some 9mm+P ammo from Buffalo Bore.

I do a lot of woods hiking in the lower peninsula. I carry my Ruger LCP2 for the same reason I carry it everywhere else. Small, light, and it works. In the UP, you might want something that works well on mosquitos and black flies.
