    1970 Colt SP1 AR15/"CAR15" - value?

    Hi Everyone,

My dad passed away a couple months ago and I am selling the firearms he had that none of the family wanted. I have a pair of Colt SP1 AR15's, one is a "CAR15". His notes list it as being from 1970. Any idea what this is worth? I already have plenty of AR platform rifles in different calibers, and the "colt" name doesn't really do anything for me so it's going up for sale. Want to know value as it seems they can vary wildly on gunbroker, etc. This one doesn't have a BCG or a charging handle. Not sure where he put them. I have never seen him shoot this rifle so whenever he bought it, that was probably the last time it was ever shot.

    Advice appreciated!

    Aaron

This website is usually a pretty good resource to get you in the ballpark.

Looks like a 1975 serial number, not sure if it came like that. What is the barrel length? Colt marked?

Thanks, been checking out true gun value a fair amount, wasn't sure how reliable it was as of yet. Plus when I have checked gunbroker it seems like there is a wide variety of asking prices.

Thanks for the serial info. I haven't looked it up, just put down what my dad had in his notes. Barrel is . No markings on it at all. Just a colt lower with random other parts?

Yup Colt is the original maker of FrankenGuns, let no parts go to waste. We'll let them call them "transition" guns

If I were the OP, I'd have a moderator delete this thread entirely.
