Man reportedly cleaning gun shoots himself in leg near Holly

    HOLLY, MI
-- A man reportedly shot himself in the leg while cleaning a handgun at a Holly area address, state police said.

Troopers responded about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 to an address in the 6200 block of Grange Hall Road for a shooting.

Police arrived at the residence and found a man in a downstairs area, on the floor next to a bed. Police found a .380 handgun on the bed.

Rescuers then applied a tourniquet to the leg and he was taken to Ascension Genesys Hospital for treatment.

Troopers said they found a spent shell casing and a gun magazine next to the bed. A report will be submitted to prosecutors for review.

3:15pm - must have been beer-o-clock at his house.

People like this are ammo for the "lock-em up, disassembled and unloaded" cornflakes point their manicured sausage fingers at.

Not saying this is the case but I've seen people say they shot themselves when a drug deal goes sideways.

I think a lot of domestic disputes that escalate too far end up using this as an excuse so no one goes to jail...or prison. I mean who cleans their guns in the bedroom?

    Polish the barrel maybe!

When I lived in an apartment I had a small workbench in the corner of the bedroom that I used for gun projects. Built my first 1911 on it, built up a couple 10/22's, and a Savage 110.
Never ventilated any of my body parts though.

Many years ago I even rebuilt a '73 Ford inline 6 in the bedroom of a 2nd story apartment. It was a sob getting that engine back down the steps once assembled.

    Born and raised redneck.
