A bit off topic but I like to highlight this issue whenever it comes up. As we get older we're also more susceptible to damage from falls, and the older we get the worse it can be.

From the CDC: "Falls among adults 65 and older caused over 36,000 deaths in 2020, making it the leading cause of injury death for that group."

Even if it doesn't kill instantly it can take years off your life and/or reduce the quality of it.

As kids we think we're invincible, and that never really goes away. We sort of think we'll have this amount of agency until we die.

I highly advocate moving into a one level home or at least something with an elevator around 60. Get rid of any runner carpets too as those are the devil.

My next door neighbor was 83 and had a fall. His skin tore like paper and he ended up in the hospital. I mean it was the cancer that finally got him but that fall certainly didn't help.

I'm also pretty sure a heavy object (such as a safe) falling on you is equally as bad if not worse.
