This coming weekend, the DSC rifle range will be open to members and the public on Saturday 11am - 4pm. So, there is still an opportunity to zero your AR-15 for the May 20 class - or just come out and shoot. Rifle range will not be open Sunday 5/14 (Mother's Day) however. But the outdoor pistol range, skeet / trap, and sporting clays will be open Sunday 5/14. Note that range fees are cash only.

hopefully everyone enjoyed the nice weekend and mothers day - maybe even found some time to shoot as well. I thought it worth mentioning that this Saturday's AR-15 rifle basics class is is not just a "guys" day learning about AR-15 rifles and then an afternoon shooting them. In last June's AR-15 class, we had 4 female students who had a blast. I personally coached 2 of our female students during the afternoon range exercises, and they did quote well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They ended the day feeling comfortable and confident in their basic rifle skills. We also had a father / (adult) son duo who also learned a lot and had a great day together. So, this class is geared for a wide range of interested students who want to learn in a relaxed environment. And if any of you "guys" have significant others that may be interested - this would be the class to consider. While it's early, the weather for Saturday looks promising for an afternoon on the range (keep your fingers crossed on that).

With just a couple of days to go until Saturday, there are some seats still available. As has been mentioned previously:

    - if you don't have your own AR-15 (or ammo), no worries, there will be rifles available in various configurations as well as ammo at the going rate
    - if you are considering adding an optic to your AR, there will be samples to evaluate, consisting of:
    a. red dot (with & without 3x magnifier)
    b. trijicon ACOG (fixed 3x power)
    c. LPVO scopes (in 1.25x - 4x, and 1x - 6x)

    - and there will be available various configurations of AR-15:
    a. the "classic" 20 inch barrel sporter (similar to the original "M-16 configuration - but semi-auto)
    c. 14.7 & 16 inch carbines
    c. in both DI and gas piston systems

It's obviously great to use your own firearm for any class. But if you are interested in seeing different configurations and options, this Saturday will be a good day to do that. And obviously get some range time in. Below is the link to the class flyer (at the DSC website).
