So, according to LSG next year FFL will drop off the MSP copy to Local Police

Did a transfer today and was talking about the RI60 and how it changed over the years, and the guy was telling me about how FFL will be dropping off the MSP copy of the pistol registration.

    Anyone heard anything about this?

That's the new law. The seller turns in the police copy.

    Spectacular.
This state is really starting to suck more and more.
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. Ronald Reagan

Nothing changes, they still don't have to turn in the RI 60.

The seller does it for them.

Some times the BS they come up with makes a teeny, weeny amount of sense. Buy this one is beyond my comprehension.
Just what are they hoping to accomplish by changing this?

I won't be sending a form in, but most other FFLs will have no clue about that exemption.

Under the current law, the issue of someone having an out state CPL wouldn’t have come up.

Someone (probably a Brady lawyer) told the Democrats that Michigan's gun registration system was found to be an unconstitutional imposition on individuals who cannot legally own firearms by SCOTUS in Haynes v. United States [390 U.S. 85 (1968)]. Placing the onus for registration on the seller was the workaround debuted in the GCA '68 for NFA weapons.
