With the current political situation, it might be a good time to invest in body armor. When/if U KNOW WHO gets elected this country might/likely will erupt in (mostly peaceful) mass violence.

Steel plates at one time were a way to get into armor, but have somewhat fallen by the way side, mainly due to weight, fragmentation concerns, and in inability to stop common rounds in the US like M193. The NIJ just released new ratings under the 07 standard, and one threat for RF1/2 (previously level III), is M193 at 3,250fps. There are very few steel plates of meeting that spec without increasing the thickness and weight. AR500 makes a steel hybrid "A3" that is a very good plate, but it's $400 for a single curve, and can't stop M855A1. You can get a ceramic multi-curve plate capable of stopping M80 ball, M193, M855, M855A1 for like $300 (depending on size). It will take lots of hits, will be lighter than all steel, and won't have fragmentation concerns. RMA: 1092 https://bit.ly/46hHfPl

Nice info. If you watch the ceramic test. Umm.. There was an impact on the melon. Dude skipped right over it. lol

Having a broken body. I would have to be careful. So, the Poly would be my choice. A reasonable carrier and a helmet for engagement time. Would be optimal. I have no delusions on my chances on surviving a prolonged fight. Just means, you have to strike as hard as you can as fiercely as you can.

People are asking why have it. If the last 10 years have not shown the use of the protection. Not sure what will. Just like prepping. If you have no food stored. You are in for a bad time.

Look into the items available. Check reviews. Make your choice. Don't forget there is a push to outlaw civilian's from purchasing armor. Not to mention. There is an election coming. The peaceful left I am sure will stay peaceful. We know their history when they don't get their way

Yes indeed - shady. It wasn't meant to be an endorsement of BulletSafe.

Wasn't knocking your choice of video. It answered the AR500 question. Just found it funny at the end. You are a wealth of information and very respected.

I didn't even have that sort of gear when I was in the Army, I certainly don't need it as a civilian.

Here's a video of steel vs. ceramic. A little fairer comparison from someone who makes and sells both
