    Ruger 77/357 and 77/44 pricing

C'mon Ruger....$1200+ for the Marlin 1894s is steep, but I can sort of see it

But why is a bolt action 357 $1250?? An American is half that.

I would buy one of each flavor if they were remotely reasonable, and I know plenty of others would as well.

PS while I'm grousing, make it a 16.1" vs 18.5" barrel

    Scoop up some used ones.

    It's basically a mauser. It's a good gun.

I feel ya though ... I've been looking at .270s, looking hard at ruger because it's stainless and threaded ... looking at old sweedish mauser half the price

You may have a jonesing for one but at that kind of money I can tell you the accuracy will not likely be there to justify the cost . My pal bought the .44 bolt action and had to seat bullets so far out the would not fit in the magazine . Ammo that would fit the magazine was not encouraging at distance .

My pal was glad when a girlfriend took it with her when she left .

What do you feel is the right price for one of these if not MSRP of $1250 +/-?

The fat side of half of that seems about right. $700-ish? I guess I'm just old and grouchy now.

Welcome to the brave new world where everything costs way more than it used to. $700 is a wide bit south of wholesale price.
