Guns I Wish Would Come Back

Remington XP 100 I got to handle a few back in the day. Always wanted one, just never had the money when one was available.

Magnum Research Lone Eagle Same story. A friend had one in .308 Winchester. It was lively to shoot, but fun.

Thompson Center Contender/Encore While I prefer the forward grip of the XP 100 and the Lone Eagle, the T/C offerings did kind of rule the market. I read the T/C will be re-entering the game in 2025 under Smith & Wesson's ownership. I've just been unable to muster any enthusiasm for S&W the last decade or so. S&W seems to have achieved the pinnacle of mediocrity. Perhaps the new T/C offerings will break that cycle.

Wayne E. Leek designed the Remington XP-100. He also designed the Nylon 66 and Model 1100 in the same era. A very innovative, competent gun designer whom few know about.

The XP-100 is a very left hander friendly firearm, but obnoxiously loud. Only real issue is how to carry it for long jaunts in the field. I use a small backpack with pockets for ammunition, water, and treats. Still kill woodchucks with mine. They are minute of angle performers.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if TommyBuilt produced another run of XM8 kits.

As far as the Contender, there is a new offering on the market that will work with all Contender barrels:

Weatherby Mk XXII with bolt action by Anschutz. I had one in .17HMR, but would really like a .22LR.
