Does anybody know if the will function with .44 spl ammo?
Talking about a gun made back in the 60s.
Any guesses of value? I haven't seen it but I don't think it has been used at all in the 50 years. Hopefully it has bee properly stored!

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.
No
I doubt it. I had some light 44 mag loads and mine became a bolt gun.
From the couple I saw when they were still on the market they had trouble with mag loads, though that may have been a COL/ bullet style problem. I doubt they will reliably(?) function with with any but full house loads

It is my understanding that they were designed to function with full house loads. Mine likes hot 300 grain the best.
I doubt it? I've had a few 44 carbines and I would only shoot 240gr or heavier 44mag ammo in order to avoid jams. I'm sure if you cleared the action well and lightened the bolt spring you could help it but I personally wouldn't mess around with an old action .
Are you thinking of selling it?
