Heard from one of the other members here that the STI Spartan was made in the Philippines and is being discontinued??...haven't been able to confirm this anywhere else, seems to have a stellar reputation but thats disquieting info.

Also this could be coincidence, but I did notice after hearing this that the grips on the spartan are listed as Philippine Mahogany...

whats the deal? and if you've got a suggestion for a 1911 thats NOT springfield or kimber, shout it out. (i dont hate those brands, but i know enough about them. looking for info on something off the beaten path like a Doublestar or STI.
Sig is the best so far out of the box. I built 6 of 1911's owned many different kinds. Most of mine are Colt but have a couple SIGS I like a lot. One in 45 & one 9mm not tried it yet, new out , called Tac Opps. Had 3 Rock Islands, nothing wrong with any of them ! Have a few match 45's that I shot in Matches only with some others to practice with because I did that a lot. Getting ready to bid on a STI or maybe two. I want a 9mm but I found such a buy on a new 45 Spartan III that I have to try to grt it too. Any 1911 any cal. is my favorite gun & has been for close to 60 yrs. Don't count before I was 21 yrs. old. Shot in the Mil. for more then 20 yrs. Shot in 4 countries. I also don't care for Kimber, like all that I mentioned.
