APRIL PISTOL AND CPL CLASSES

The March classes are now complete with the April classes now in focus as listed below. And if you can't join next month, there are classes scheduled for early May as well (and into the summer).

The three April courses scheduled are NRA basic pistol, CPL & Personal Protection, and a CPL refresher class. Each can be taken separately; however, we recommend that NRA basic pistol and CPL & personal protection be taken together to maximize the students learning experience (especially for new / beginner pistol owners). The details for each class are below. All classes are taught by dual certified instructors (NRA and MCRGO) and a practicing attorney who specializes in firearms law. NRA Basic Pistol and CPL & Personal Protection - offered as a combined course
This is a combination class (basic pistol plus CPL & Personal Protection) oriented for beginners with little to no firearms experience, and specifically factors in the instructional needs and concerns of women. It will review all of the fundamentals as well as practical live-fire range exercises in proper handling, aiming, loading, and shooting of a handgun. The live-fire range instruction is 1-on-1 with a certified instructor. Citizen’s firearms rights and responsibilities will be addressed. State Laws pertaining to purchase, transport, and concealed carry will be taught by an attorney. NRA and Michigan CPL certificates will be awarded. CPL & Personal Protection
This class meets the Michigan requirement for a CPL and is designed for those who already have basic handgun shooting skills and experience. If you are still fairly new to handguns, or looking to gain added experience, then you should consider taking the DSC Basic pistol class first (next class is scheduled for Sunday April 7th, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm).

CPL COURSE OBJECTIVES:
* Review Handgun Knowledge, Safe Gun Handling and Storage
* Review Fundamentals of Handgun Shooting
* Practical Range Handgun Shooting Exercises (1 on 1 with a certified instructor)
* Firearms and The Law – Includes MI state CPL Certification
* Introduction to Personal Protection in the Home

CPL Refresher Course
This 3 – hour CPL refresher course meets the state requirement for your every 5-year CPL renewal. The class requires students (21 and older) to already have their MI CPL, (it’s recommended that you take this course at least 3 months prior to your CPL expiration date). And if you can't make the April class, there will be classes in May and June. For additional information and sign-up sheet, follow the link below.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: (this is a one-night class)
• Review changes to CPL and firearm laws.
• Review fundamentals of handgun handling including, stance, aiming and shooting.
• Includes structured practical handgun live fire shooting exercises, 1 on 1 with an instructor.

The basic pistol class was held Sunday 4/7, and the April CPL class is underway and will finish this coming Monday night 4/15. Next Tuesday (4/16 7pm - 10pm) is the CPL refresher class for those needing to re-new (allowed within 6 months of current license expiration date) - and there are slots available. One of our current CPL students forgot to renew his license within 1 year of it's expiration - so had to re-take the class - so a reminder to all to stay current.
